Venue Description: As one of Long Island's leading privately supported museums, the Long Island Museum of American Art, History & Carriages houses more than 40,000 pieces from the 1700s to the present. Not only does the museum feature a variety of American art and artifacts from everyday life, but it also displays nearly 200 historic carriages. The museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate, which gives them greater access to its collections and educational resources.

Over the past year, the museum's school programs, which run September through June, served more than 12,000 children from 59 school districts. The whole family can enjoy the museum's newest exhibitions, at the Dorothy and Ward Melville Carriage House and the Margaret Melville Blackwell History Museum. Frequent events and programs, such as Senior Tuesday, Drawing and Painting the Natural Environment, and Sound of Summer give people of all ages an opportunity to get involved in the world of art. Also check out the art museum and the gardens and historic structures throughout the property.
