Add to Calendar 13-07-2013 13-07-2013 15 Come Out and Play Field Day Every summer at the Come Out & Play Festival (COAP), thousands of people play original games in public spaces across New York. This year's festival will feature Come Out & Play After Dark night games at South Street Seaport, and Field Day and Family Day on Governors Island. The 2013 Come Out & Play Festival kicks off with Come Out & Play After Dark, an evening of night games on Friday, July 12 at South Street Seaport. After Dark transforms the area around South Street Seaport into a big playground through a mixture of projections, installation games and street games. The evening will include everything from big games of zombie tag down alleyways to Field Frogger, a real-world version of the arcade classic. On Saturday, July 13, Come Out & Play will take over the Governors Island Parade Grounds for a day full of original Field and Family Games. Now in its third year, Field Day showcases original field games, sports and social games. Some games make use of new technology like smartphones, and some rely on old-fashioned tech like rubber balls. But each game offers new ways to play and have fun. Games that will be played at this year's Come Out and Play Festival include: Adventure Squad versus the Sky Pirates, Crossfire and Kung Fu Flamingoes. A descriptive list of games can be found below. Family Day offers games designed specifically for families and children. Brought to the festival by ESI Design, Family Day features an immersive, interactive time travel environment that leads to games set in a variety of time periods, from the dawn of the universe to the distant future. In addition to playing original games, families will encounter wacky time travel agents, discover chronological paradoxes and help prevent threats to the space-time-continuum. Games include Spaghetti Standoff, Super Bacon Grab 2, and Battle of the Cardboard Clads. A complete list of Family Day games online at comeoutandplay.org. The Come Out & Play Festival is free to attend. More information about the festival can be found at comeoutandplay.org. Come Out & Play Festival is presented by the Lower Manhattan Community Council as part of the River To River Festival 2013. The annual River To River Festival is produced by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in partnership with Founding Partners Arts Brookfield, Battery Park City Authority and South Street Seaport. This festival is made possible with support from the Alliance for Downtown New York, American Express, The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, HUD, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Westfield World Trade Center and in part by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, as well as other underwriters. rivertorivernyc.com. http://www.nymetroparents.com/2014neweventinfo.cfm?id=140925 Governors Island true DD/MM/YYYY
