Add to Calendar 09-11-2013 09-11-2013 15 Ragtime - The Musical The Clocktower Players Adult Troupe presents the musical based on E.L. Doctorow's acclaimed epic novel. Set in turn-of-the-century New York, "Ragtime" weaves together three distinctly American tales: a poor Jewish immigrant sells his "moving picture" books on the street; a wealthy Victorian couple welcomes a runaway into their home; a Harlem jazz pianist turns an issue of justice into a revolution. Their personal journeys come alive as historic figures offer guidance and diversion - among them escape artist Harry Houdini, auto tycoon Henry Ford, educator Booker T. Washington, activist Emma Goldman, and infamous entertainer Evelyn Nesbit. Together, their stories celebrate the struggle between tradition and independence, all in pursuit of the American dream. The beloved Ahrens and Flaherty score, as diverse as the melting pot of America itself, features some of the award-winning team's best-known songs including the title song, "Make Them Hear You" and the anthem, "The Wheels of a Dream." "Ragtime" is a relevant tale for today, and a most extraordinary musical that captures the American experience. http://www.nymetroparents.com/2014neweventinfo.cfm?id=146753 Irvington Town Hall Theater true DD/MM/YYYY
