Description: Spend the afternoon making art like the masters with the Family Art Project's Rama Mandel. This afternoon, explore the evocative paintings of American artist Georgia O'Keefe, particularly the flowers, shells, and bones she loved to expand into larger-than-life images. Using water-soluble ink and acrylics, paint your own images. Program is geared to children between the ages of five and 10 with a parent or caregiver. Space is limited. Venue Description: See natural beauty at its finest at Wave Hill, the 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx. Overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades, Wave Hill's true view lies in the park's magnificent gardens and landscapes. Horticulture and the arts programs for children, teenagers, and teachers are hosted by Wave Hill. Its grounds serve as living laboratories for science exploration. A memorable and scenic venue location, the Wave Hill House, built in 1843, is available for meetings, conferences, celebrations, and photo shoots. Wave Hill House was home to many celebrated icons, including Theodore Roosevelt and Mark Twain.
On weekends from 10am-1pm, the whole family can enjoy with a naturally creative Family Art Project. Wave Hill's visual arts program presents artworks in the galleries and on the grounds that engage the public in a dialogue with nature, culture, and site.
