Add to Calendar 27-09-2014 27-09-2014 15 Pelham Art Center ArtsFest 2014 Pelham Art Center (PAC) will be a vibrant part of ArtsFest 2014, a one-day art adventure. The day will be packed with art-related activities at Pelham Art Center (PAC), so arrive early and stay late. Experience public art in two locations in Pelham. First walk across the street from PAC to The Storefront Project where you can view a pop-up art exhibition in the windows of the empty storefront: Outside-In, a group exhibition with each artist’s work occupying a window space presenting three unique perspectives on landscape, and running through Oct. 17. A companion show will be on view in the PAC courtyard titled Stuffscapes, a six-person outdoor exhibition with sculptures made from diverse materials such as cast metal, repurposed wood, and found objects. The show, on view through Dec. 20, demonstrates commitment to material engagement while exploring a dialog of personal and cultural significance of the sculptural object. From 9am-2pm, watch Stuffscapes artists present Pelham Art Center's first Hot Metal Pour in the courtyard. Learn how some of the sculptures were fabricated by observing the metal casting process. For a $20 materials fee, visitors can make their own metal pour sculptures by carving molds, then watch the artists pour the liquid metal into their molds right there, then take them home. Running concurrently in the gallery is Natural Enemies. This group exhibition explores the inherent conflicts in human nature and the prevailing ideologies that influence and motivate our existence on an emotional and intellectual level. To round out the afternoon, Lois Colin will conduct the Westchester Harp Ensemble. Enjoy this performance beginning at noon by student and professional harpists in the gallery surrounded by angelic sounds and fascinating art. About Westchester Harp Ensemble The Westchester Harp Ensemble began in 2004 and is comprised of students who study with Lois Colin. The purpose of the harp ensemble is to offer students performance opportunities. http://www.nymetroparents.com/2014neweventinfo.cfm?id=169160 Pelham Art Center true DD/MM/YYYY
