He attended the Berklee College of Music on scholarship in 1984 and placed third in the Thelonious Monk International Drum Competition in 1992. His diverse experience as a drummer and his passion for woodwinds led him to explore musical realms that inform his approach to singing. The sky has been the limit for Jefferson, who leads his own quartet on vocals with special guest Jay Hoggard on vibraphone. http://www.nymetroparents.com/2015neweventinfo.cfm?id=102428 ArtsWestchester true DD/MM/YYYY

Venue Description: ArtsWestchester, New York State?s largest arts council, works to bolster the county?s cultural presence and incorporate the arts into the everyday lives of Westchester residents. It does this by awarding grants that fund special concerts, exhibits, and performances, and by offering culturally enriching programs and services. The council?s goal is ?to provide leadership, vision, and support, and to ensure the availability, accessibility, and diversity of the arts.? Formerly the Westchester Arts Council, this non-profit was created in 1965 as a small grassroots group, and has grown into a network of 120 affiliated organizations with a national reputation as a promoter of regional arts and a leader in education. John Peckham, the president of ArtsWestchester?s board, said this of the association: ?We are an organization that has been around for nearly half a century. Through the years we have grown, and our services have changed and grown with the times. Today, we are not just about grant-making ? we are an arts advocate, an arts educator, an arts marketer ? an organization that serves the entire county on many levels.? ArtsWestchester works with the county government, several municipal governments, and business and community leaders to market the arts throughout Westchester. The organization also works as a partner with school districts to improve the incorporation of the arts into their educational programs. The organization is headquartered at the Arts Exchange, a nine-story neo-classical former bank building that is a registered state and national historical landmark. After purchasing the building in 1998, ArtsWestchester renovated, restored, and transformed it into what is now a performance venue and art exhibition space, as well as artists? studios, offices for cultural organizations, and a home of the arts for the entire Westchester community.
