Add to Calendar 17-02-2013 17-02-2013 15 Living Newspapers: Acting Through Activism What is important to you? Feeling safe in your community? Getting a good education? Caring for the environment? Staying healthy? Would you take action to protect these things? How? Through a visit to the museum's Activist New York exhibition, participants will learn how everyday New Yorkers have been standing up for their beliefs for more than 300 years, using a variety of methods to get their points across, such as boycotts, protests, strikes, petitions, art, and even theater performances. Working with theater educators, families will then create their own dramatic "Living Newspaper" piece based on recent headlines from local newspapers. Recommended for ages 7 to 12 and their adults. All programs are free with admission and a light snack will be served. Email egoldin@mcny.org for more information. Registration is required. http://www.nymetroparents.com/2015neweventinfo.cfm?id=125524 Museum of the City of New York true DD/MM/YYYY
