More than 1.5 million people have taken part in this annual celebration since its inception. Festival attendees can walk the Mile between 82nd and 105th Streets while visiting nine of New York City's finest cultural institutions, which will be open free to the public throughout the evening. In addition, several of the participating museums offer outdoor art activities for children, including chalk drawing, live model drawing classes, plus entertainment both inside the museums and on the streets.
