Add to Calendar 26-01-2014 26-01-2014 15 Lunar New Year Celebration 2014 The New York Chinese Cultural Center is presenting its most celebrated cultural program at iconic New York City cultural institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Queens Museum, the Bronx Museum, and the Snug Harbor Cultural Center for two full weekends and reaching four boroughs on January 25th& January 26th and February 8th & February 9th, 2014, NYCCC will bring our festival Chinese New Year Celebration to thousand of New Yorkers. In addition to celebrating the most popular Chinese holiday, the activities are designed to engage wide range of audiences from all neighborhoods to have a taste of authentic Chinese culture, with colorful costumed folk dances and hands-on arts and crafts demonstration. New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC) has produced annual Lunar New Year Festival for 27 consecutive years to sold-out audiences. It’s the most popular and anticipated program for Chinese New Year. For 2014, the Year of Horse, NYCCC partners with four major museums to bring the celebration from the heart of Chinatown to families and audiences of diverse communities in four boroughs. The signature performances include swirling Red Ribbon Dance, the flash and elegance of Traditional Sword Dance, playful and graceful Double Fan Dance, and a traditional Lion Dance with Hip-Hop twist. Performance are proceeded/followed by a 60 minutes hands-on arts and crafts activities such as paper cutting, calligraphy writing, and dough figurine making.
