wolf conservation center south salem ny; wolf in winterWinter Wolves on Presidents Day

Wolf Conservation Center, South Salem

Feb. 18

It seems a fitting tribute, particularly to our 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt, to pay a visit to the Wolf Conservation Center for Winter Wolves on Presidents Day. Roosevelt, who has been called the country’s first environmentalist president, signed the National Monuments Act in 1906, which protected sites like the Grand Canyon, and preserved countless wildlife sanctuaries and national forests. Winter offers families a wonderful opportunity to visit the wolves during their favorite time of year and learn about their mythology, biology, and ecology. Meet ambassador wolves Atka, Alawa, and Zephyr, as well as the center’s other critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. Dress for cold weather and enjoy hot beverages in the woodstove-heated classroom. Registration required.
