May 3: Glaze Art Studio in Orangeburg invites young children to experiment with crafty materials and design a unique flower pot for mom in its Mosaic Flower Pot Workshop. Registration is required.

May 11: Strawtown Jewelry in New City offers a Mother/Daughter/Grandmother Class on May 11, during which mothers and daughters or grandmothers and their granddaughters can make a bracelet, necklace, or anklet for Mother’s Day. Work with semi-precious stone beads, pearls, and crystal beads. Silver plated chain is used for necklaces. Participants will learn stringing techniques as well as how to work with pliers. Reservations are required.

Throughout May: Make mom a jewelry box, bud vase, flowerpot, garden stake, or something else you stumble on during a Seasonal Workshop at Jill’s Ceramics in West Nyack. Workshops are held Mondays and Tuesdays at 12pm for toddlers and Fridays at 3pm for all ages.

 

Mother’s Day Brunch in Pomona

May 12: Treat your mom to a Mother’s Day Brunch at Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, featuring food, drinks, and entertainment. Reservations are required.

Start the day with fresh air and a family photo op when the Tenafly Nature Center in Tenafly, NJ, hosts its Mother’s Day Hike. No strollers allowed. May 12. FREE for moms.

The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum in Cornwall also hosts a Guided Hike for Moms on Mother’s Day.

Make the trip to nearby Wave Hill in the Bronx on May 12 for a Mother’s Day-themed Morning Bird Walk (for ages 10 and older) followed by a Family Art Project in which kids can make a Mother’s Day gift.
