Learning Social Skills with a Smile socialsklz:-), inspired by the popularity and success of their two-day workshops, is offering a new program called CLUBsocialsklz:-) that will be offered both in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The new program runs for 10 weeks and includes new material created by Faye Rogaski, founder of socialsklz:-). The weekly class runs for 75 minutes and is divided into two groups, socialkidz (ages 4-7) and socialtweenz (ages 8-12). The program has three sections: “ME,” “YOU,” and “WE.” Rogaski believes all people need to learn certain skillsets in order to succeed in life, whether it is at a young age in a school setting or as an adult in the workplace. “We offer vital life skills that every child needs to thrive in the modern world,” she says. “It’s assumed that kids will pick up certain skills in life, but social skills do not come inherently for most kids.” “There’s not one kid who walks out of this program without great eye contact and a firm handshake,” she says. Rogaski stresses the difference between learning social skills in a corrective way versus in an empowering, interactive way. “That’s what makes kids want to come back to class,” she says. “Our workshops are not about our instructors preaching manners. It’s about learning why these skills are important and having the opportunity to see what a difference it makes when you use them.” CLUBsocialsklz:-) Brooklyn workshops are located at Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture, 53 Prospect Park West, Park Slope. For more information about registration visit www.socialsklz.com. workshops are held on the Upper West Side, the Upper East Side, and in Tribeca Kids learn proper phone etiquette, among other vital skills, at CLUBsocialsklz:-).
