Ballet for Young Audiences presents

Applause NYC Holiday Spectacular features your child’s favorite fictional characters in an interactive holiday musical. Join Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, Danny from Grease, Peter Pan, and the Grinch as they celebrate the holidays with hit Broadway songs and seasonal classics. Ballet for Young Audiences will perform The Nutcracker: A Christmas Celebration, featuring Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s musical score and the famous story of Clara’s Nutcracker, the Sugarplum Fairy, and the Enchanted Forest. View a kid-friendly version of The Nutcracker, performed by Ballet for Young Audiences  and featuring children from the Long Island City School of Ballet. December 11 at 1pm and 3pm. $15, $10 children. The Secret Theatre, 44-02 23rd Street, Long Island City. 718-781-1169.

The LaGuardia Performing Arts Center presents its own production of The Nutcracker, featuring the music of Tchaikovsky and a story about Clara’s Christmastime journey. December 18 at 3pm. $12. LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, 31-10 Thomson Avenue, Long Island City. 718-482-5152.

Listen to your favorite holiday music performed by Uncle Yao’s Chorus & United Star of America Chorus. The concert will feature a full chorus, quartets, separate men’s and women’s choruses, as well as tenor and soprano solos. December 11 at 2pm. FREE. The Russian-American Ballet Company presents an original version of The Nutcracker. The company includes all Russian-trained dancers in stunning costume in a performance made especially for family audiences. December 26 at 3pm. $18, $12 children 12 and under. Learn all about Kwanzaa with Robbi K and Friends in an interactive performance at Flushing Town Hall. The performance features singer-storyteller Robbi K with African rhythms by two accompanying percussionists. December 18 at 2pm. $16, $12 children. Join the Queens Library Forest Hills branch for A Holiday Afternoon with the Piney Fork Press Theater. The show will feature three comedies by Johnny Culver performed by the Piney Fork Press players.
