Presidents’ Week Activities for Kids: Wildlife Adventures Mini Camp at the Queens Zoo

porcupine; queens zooKids have a lot to look forward to at the Queens Zoo this month, when the zoo hosts another session of its popular children’s program, Wildlife Adventures Mini Camp. Kids ages 6-10 can learn about animal life, visit different animal groups, go on behind-the-scenes tours of zoo exhibits, watch live animal presentations, participate in arts and crafts, and much more. On the first day, it’s “Marvelous Mammals;” “Life on the Farm” is on day two; then it’s “Beautiful Birds,” on the third and last day of the program.

The Queens Zoo is part of New York City’s Wildlife Conservation Society and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the zoo seeks to promote interactive, hands-on learning for children and adults, and is home to a variety of wildlife, domestic animals, a sea lion pool (with daily feedings), a waterfowl marsh, an aviary, and a children’s petting zoo.
