Parenting Seminar: Helping Children/Teens Manage Stress

Girls Inc. Westchester

This organization strives to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through its programs, which will include mother/daughter workshops this spring and a March 11 workshop at Eastview Middle School for middle school girls from White Plains. Mount Kisco Public Library‘s Teen Room

The Teen Room holds all of the library’s teen fiction, including a graphic novel selection. It also has computers, audio books and CDs, and a small reference section that includes college resources. Teens can also write a book review for the Teen Room’s blog (mtkteenreview.blogspot.com), interview an author via podcast, and participate in community service activities. The Spot! at Mount Vernon Public Library

Every Thursday evening, the library hosts a variety of programming just for teens, including open mic poetry, karaoke night, arts and crafts, game night sessions, and special guest speakers. FREE. The library is located at 28 South 1st Avenue in Mount Vernon. For more information: 914-668-1840.

 

The Teen Zone at Ossining Public Library

The library offers regular teen programming. In March, teens can stop by for yoga and math tutoring on Mondays, chess on Tuesdays, and teen movies on Fridays. In honor of Teen Tech Week (March 6-11), the library will be screening The Social Network. Located at 53 Croton Avenue in Ossining. Youth Leadership Council at Rosenthal JCC of Northern Westchester

The council meets every six to eight weeks to help plan and organize several teen social events, family holiday celebrations, and Mitzvah Project volunteer activities for high schoolers. Teens on the council serve as role models for younger children and learn leadership skills. The Rosenthal JCC is located at 600 Bear Ridge Road in Pleasantville, with a second location in Cortlandt Manor.
