Save on Broadway

   One argument against going to a Broadway show is the cost, but Kids’ Night on Broadway cuts that price in half.  Held this year on January 30 and 31, 2007, the event offers a free child’s ticket for every adult ticket purchased.

   The two NYC TKTS booths offer same-day half-price tickets. Times Square Theatre Center, 47th Street & Broadway, opens at 3pm Monday through Saturday (for evening performances): 10am, Wednesday & Saturday (for matinee tickets);
11am on Sunday (for matinee & evening tickets). The Downtown Theatre Center in the Resnick-Prudential Building,199 Water Street, corner of Front & John Streets, opens at 11am daily. Cash/travelers’ checks only accepted at TKTS.

   Teens can get $5 tickets through High 5 Tickets to the Arts, www.highfivetix.org.  All you need is proof that you are a middle or high school student.  You can buy two $5 tickets to a show, so a parent can accompany for only $5.

   And some shows offer student rush tickets, for $20-$25 (usually cash only).  These don’t require a student ID; to see if a show you want to see has rush tickets, check the website or theater box office.
