Spend the Night at the Queens Zoo

As part of the youth and family education programs at the Queens Zoo, families are invited to spend the night and explore the zoo after hours.

Children ages 4 and older and their families can sleep at the zoo and will be treated to fun-filled activities. Along with a caregiver, children can learn about animal diets and help prepare tasty treats for the creatures in the zoo. Families will also be able to go on a late-night walk in the aviary and meet some of the animals up-close.

Families are asked to bring their own tent, sleeping bags, and picnic dinner. However, beverages, dessert, late-night snacks, and breakfast will be provided. Also, the Queens Zoo says there is no need for alarm clocks, because their vocal parrots will provide the wake-up call.

Overnights begin at 5pm and end at 10am the next morning. The cost is $125 per person and children must be accompanied by an adult. There is still space in the June session available, which takes place from Saturday, June 3 at 5pm to Sunday, June 4 at 10am.

Other family programming at the Queens Zoo includes Toddler Time for kids ages 2-3 and Little Hatchlings for kids ages 12-23 months. Both classes introduce children to animals and nature through songs, stories, crafts, and more. There is also a Family Breakfast Club and Pajama Story Time for kids ages 4 and older.

In addition, the Queens Zoo runs a summer camp with age-appropriate activities for children ages 2 and older, divided into age groups. The summer camps include a variety of experiences such as hands-on science activities, up-close animal encounters, exhibit visits, arts and crafts, and more.

Additional information about the family overnight event, educational programs, and summer camp can be found on the Queens Zoo Education page
