Summer Family Outing in Westchester County, NY: Rainbeau Ridge’s Open Farm Days

See what activities and events Rainbeau Ridge, a local produce and animal farm, has in store for kids and families this summer.

Rainbeau Ridge farm; kids on an animal farm; young children petting goats   This summer, Rainbeau Ridge, a sustainable farm focused on reestablishing local farms as an integral part of the community, is hosting Open Farm Days. Explore the farm, visit the 20 breeds of animals, play in the organic vegetable garden, and picnic behind the farmhouse. In addition to Open Farm Days, Rainbeau Ridge hosts its Family Farm Overnight on July 31, which allows families to get an intimate look at the inner workings of a farm, help with chores and activities, spend the night in tents, and wake up to a farm-fresh breakfast the next day.

Rainbeau Ridge prides itself on sustainable, organic farming, and in only eight years, it has become a center of learning for the Westchester community. Hosting classes about healthy living, local chefs teach seasonal cooking classes to adults, and farm workers teach agricultural necessities for children, such as caring for farm animals, tapping maple trees, and growing vegetables. Rainbeau Ridge also includes an egg operation, organic gardens, a restored orchard, small pastures and barns designed for the farm’s many animals, and a cheese house. The cheese at Rainbeau Ridge is award-winning and made on-site using milk from their very own goats.

While the goats are the focus of the farm, other animals that call Rainbeau Ridge home include cows, chickens, sheep, turkeys, and llamas.
