Unfold a new appreciation of origami as Robert Lang, one of the world's foremost Origami artists and a pioneer in computational Origami, shows how a theory originally developed for its own sake has led to some surprising, practical applications as well as a whole new genre of art. Lang will be introduced by Vanessa Gould, the filmmaker behind the documentary "Between the Folds." The presentation is geared toward a general audience and would best be enjoyed by participants age 12 and older. Presentations will be held at 4pm and 7pm. He'll spin an extended "maximum rock and soul" set leading into an after-hours Silent Disco edition of his popular Soul Clap and Dance Off party. Best known for his hit "Mary Lou," Young Jessie epitomizes the wild '50s blend of West Coast R&B and rock 'n' roll. He has cut some of the best records of the era on his own and as a member of the Coasters and the Flairs. Joining him are New Orleans culture bearers King James & The Special Men, part of the Ninth Ward vanguard who plays real, raucous music the old-fashioned way, in their first show outside of Louisiana.
