Thomas Land Set to Reopen with New Attraction

Thomas the Train fans will surely be excited to know that Thomas Land, the largest permanent Thomas & Friends attraction in North America, is set to reopen for its second season on May 28th—just in time for Memorial Day weekend—with a brand new monorail attraction, according to a park press release.

Thomas Land covers 11.5 acres and boasts 11 full-scale, working-model rides based on Thomas & Friends and the Island of Sodor. Thomas Land features a 20-minute long scenic train ride on a life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine replica, and families can visit familiar destinations around the Island of Sodor like Tidmouth Sheds, Knapford Station, and Brendam Docks. Sir Topham Hatt, controller of the Railway on the Island of Sodor, will be on site to greet and take photos with guests.

Ready to run full steam ahead are theme park favorites such as Bertie’s Bus Tour, Cranky’s Crane Drop, Diesel Derby, Harold’s Lift-Off, Troublesome Trucks Runaway Coaster, and much more. And new this season is the Winston’s Skyline Express, where families can hop on Winston and view the park from a whole new perspective with this monorail-inspired ride.

There are currently two other Thomas Lands in operation worldwide. The first was opened in 1998 at Fujikyu Highland amusement park in Japan, 90 minutes from Tokyo. The second Thomas Land was opened in 2008 at Drayton Manor Theme Park in the UK.  Together, both parks attract nearly 3 million visitors each year.

The USA Thomas Land is located in Edaville USA, a family amusement center entertaining families for over 70 years, in South Carver, Massachusetts. Admission is $34 for ages 4 and over; $29 for kids under 4 and seniors. Families can purchase their tickets online.
