Like all marathons, the NYC race is 26.2 miles from start to finish, but no other city offers competitors the sights, sounds, and sheer excitement of the marathon's five-borough course, which runs from Staten Island to Central Park. Thousands will run; join the millions who will watch. Cheer for your family, friends, and neighbors as they run from Staten Island to Brooklyn, through Queens and the Bronx, and on into Manhattan.

Disney Theatrical Productions Presents 'Newsies The Musical' on Broadway - Nederlander Theatre
Through December 31, 2012 - Manhattan

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, this movie-turned-musical is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what's right. "Newsies" is inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst, and other powerful newspaper publishers. The stage version introduces several brand-new songs by the original team while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film, including "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," "King of New York," and "Santa Fe."

Bend and Bloom Yoga offer children's yoga classes. Mondays are for 8-12 year olds. Tuesdays are for 3-5 year olds. Wednesdays are for 6-8 year olds. Kids are allowed to drop in ($18) or register for a series of classes. Family classes for moms and tots are also available.

Natural History - Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Artist Patrick Dougherty and a team of volunteers constructed a monumental woven-wood sculpture in honor of Brooklyn Botanic Garden's centennial. The result, large-scale sculptures made from sticks and saplings, is an organic structure that changes over time as the materials settle and decay.

Spend some time outside enjoying nature while helping to keep the Park clean. Families are encouraged to come and take a tour of the Park and its waterways and help keep it tidy along the way. Gloves, garbage bags, and trash grabbers will be provided.
