Tree House Installation - Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Tree house architect Roderick Romero has created a whimsical, inhabitable sculpture using wood from trees felled by Hurricane Sandy. This "tree house" will be part open-air classroom, part viewing point, and part artwork. Created specifically for BBG, it will invite visitors of all ages to experience the Garden in a new way.

Kids can visit examples of stores they might find in some of Brooklyn's ethnic pockets: a Chinese stationary store, a Mexican bakery, a West African import store, to name a few, which are modeled after real Brooklyn businesses. There's also an international grocery store and a replica of the famous L&B Spumoni pizzeria from Bensonhurst.

Come Together: Surviving Sandy, Year 1 - Industry City

An exhibition of works from local artists who were impacted by Superstorm Sandy. The nearly 100,000-square-foot exhibition includes more than 300 artists and will feature exhibitions, music and dance performances, screenings of documentary films, panel discussions regarding the conservation of works of art and preventative measures with regard to future natural disasters, and readings by poets who have been commissioned to write about their experience of Sandy.

Explore the history of New York through the lens of its landmark buildings in this exhibit of photographs, The show documents architectural structures of all types that reflect the city's history, from the seventeenth through the twentieth centuries.
