Throw on your pattern cape, pick up your magic wand and get ready to fall under the spell of... PATTERNS. Visitors who enter this magical exhibit will become an “apprentice wizard” as they explore and play with the power of patterns. Presented entirely in rhyme, this wildly whimsical sensory exhibit features four interactive pattern areas: Spiral Spells, Tessellation Station, Branch, Branch and Linear Lab. The exhibition also features a Wizard Library, a computer pattern station where kids can create their own patterns and Symmetry Sorcery, where children investigate how we use symmetry to organize patterns. This bilingual (English/Spanish) exhibit introduces the fundamentals of patterns as the building blocks of our natural and man-made world and as a critical developmental tool for children.

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America. Each summer since 2010, Blue Star Museums have offered free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Whaling tools, maps, illustrations, archival images and text will be displayed with an eye toward making the exhibit accessible to audiences of varied interests and all ages. Among those whose roles will be highlighted are local indigenous people, slaves, servants, whaling captains, and the families that were sustained by the whaling industry. This exhibit takes place inside the historic Captain Albert Rogers Mansion, a 20 room Greek-revival house was built in 1843 during the peak of the whaling industry. It was built by Captain Rogers was one of the many prosperous whaling captains living in Southampton during the 19th century. Opening Reception: Saturday, March 4th 4-6pm.

Sky Zone Cares - Sky Zone Deer Park

Sky Zone Deer Park Indoor Trampoline Park will be opening on the first Monday of each month exclusively for jumpers with special needs. Sky Zone Deer Park team members have been trained and certified by Missing Piece Awareness to be autism aware and accepting and special modifications have been implemented by the management team. On this day for children and adults with special needs, Sky Zone dials down the music, increases the staff ratio, and limits capacity. The Sky Zone team understands the need to provide families affected by autism with a recurring session time where individuals can learn the rules and practice them in a safe and comfortable environment so they can eventually generalize these skills and be fully integrated at any time. Takes place the first Monday of the month through June 2015.

Geometric Figurative Works: Art Exhibit - New York Hall of Science

Karl Szilagi creates visual puzzles that use black and white geometric patterns to create figurative images. His art explores how we perceive patterns as both flat and three-dimensional at the same time. Most of the pieces are reverse mirror images – they appear the same when rotated 180 degrees.
