School's Out Holiday Camp - Center for Science Teaching and Learning

Pre-School Storytime - Manhasset Public Library

Preschoolers 3 1/2 -5 years old will enjoy a storytime just for them. This is a drop-off class for children enrolled in Kindergarten. Registration begins Monday, October 1st at 9am.

Bingo for Kids - Temple Beth El

Bring your entire family and neighbors for an afternoon of fun. An adult must accompany the children. Adults are not required to play. Purchase pizza, ice cream, soda and other snacks at reasonable prices. Outside food is not allowed in the synagogue. Prizes are awarded for winning BINGOs.

Veteran's Day Sports Camp - Drop Off - Unlimited Sports Action
November 12, 2012 - Port Washington

This multi-sport turf-time drop-off camp for kids ages 3-10, offers "turf-time" during school vacation weeks. For example, Election Day (11/6), Veteran's Day (11/12) and Thanksgiving (11/23). Turf-time is a multi-sport class where the field is divided into sections and children are grouped by age. Athletes can choose from playing baseball, dodge ball, soccer, basketball, obstacle course, or any other sports that they choose to play.

Indoor Boys Lacrosse League - Grade 2 - Pre-registration - Unlimited Sports Action

Hallockville Museum Historic Farm Tour - Hallockville Museum Farm

Step back in time to life as a North Fork farmer from the 1700's to the 1930's. Explore 28 acres along with 19 historic houses, barns and outbuildings ranging from the mid-18th century Hallock Homestead to the Depression-era Cichanowicz Farmhouse. Long Island- America's 1950s Frontier - Long Island Museum

The exhibit features compelling artifacts, photographs, and video oral histories, as well as a fashion gallery that displays trendy 1950s clothing. Other special artifacts include a working jukebox, a hat worn by famous developer Robert Moses, and popular toys from the era, like a Red Ryder BB gun. The exhibition will transport viewers to a time brimming with optimism, with difficulties just below the surface. It was a moment when Long Island was at the forefront of where the nation was-- and where it was headed. The exhibition runs through December 31, 2012.

You?ll develop a first-hand understanding of the physical forces at work in the design process as you apply principles of balance, proportion and geometry to your design. Building Boom with KEVA brings out the designer, architect and engineer in each of us as you problem solve and think in three dimension. Uniform in size, KEVA planks use only gravity ? no glue or connectors. You'll dabble with physics to achieve balance, proportion and stability. Stumped for a design project? Draw inspiration from 50 permanent building models on display. This exhibit runs through January 6, 2013.

KaleidoZone - Chaos and Containment - Long Island Children's Museum

Chaos and Containment are two psychological states all human beings experience in varying degrees and intensity. This exhibit intends to inspire and foster conversations pertaining to the differences and parallels between art made by artists and art made by artists with mental disabilities. Visitors will see and appreciate each other�s qualities even if those go hidden behind us being distracted by out-of-the-norm behaviors caused by a disability. This exhibit features a selection of work that was created in an art therapy workshop at Family Residences and Essential Enterprises. The exhibit runs through January 6, 2013.

ReGeneration - New York Hall of Science

This exhibition explores the connection of cultural vitality to immigration, urbanization, and sustainability through the intersection of art, technology, and science. Fourteen artists/groups will participate to connect audiences through active participation, aesthetic beauty, technology, culturally shared symbols, and vocabulary. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Autism Spectrum Parent Support Group - Family and Children's Association
Through September 01, 2013 - Mineola

Family Center’s Spectrum Support Group offers caregivers mutual support by providing opportunities to meet with others also raising children who are dually diagnosed. To be eligible the child must have a primary Mental Health diagnosis and a secondary Spectrum diagnosis. Groups are facilitated by Parent Advocates, each having their own unique experience raising a child under the Spectrum. While caregivers attend group, respite can be provided to children ages 5-17. To receive respite, an intake is required. This ensures staff is familiar with the child, making caregiver’s participation more relaxing. Meetings are held the first and third Monday of each month, except holidays. RSVP Miriam at 516-485-5914 xtn 2223 no later than seven days prior to the meeting date.

Sculpture Mystery: The Great Art Caper - Hofstra University Museum

Sculpture Exploration Backpack - Hofstra University Museum

Kids and their grown up companions can stop in at the Hofstra University Museum's Emily Lowe Gallery, and pick up a backpack. At the end of your tour, return the backpack and each child will receive a small gift from the Museum. The program runs through January 1, 2014.

Outdoor Sculpture Biennial - Adelphi University

See the work of 10 skilled sculptors located throughout the scenic 75-acre arboretum on the Garden City campus. This outdoor installation showcases the talents of Miggy Buck (NY), John Clement (NY), Maria Hall (NY), Ed Haugevik (NY), William King (NY), Anti Liu (NY), Johnny Poux (NY), Kim Radochia (MA), Christopher Saucedo (NY), and Hans Van de Bovenkamp (NY). Works of art encompass use of various materials-steel, bronze, aluminum, concrete and reflective mirrors. These man-made creations are transposed into poetic visual narrations. The exhibition runs through May 31, 2014.
