Westchester County Annual Earth Day Celebration

Walk, cycle, carpool or train it to the Westchester County Annual Earth Day Celebration. Increase your awareness of green living, celebrate the environment, and enjoy a free, fun day outdoors with your family.  Watch live music and entertainment by Annie and the Natural Wonder Band and Solar Punch. Fresh, organic, and locally-grown produce at the Farmer’s Market will be for sale, and the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester County will be facilitating day long Q&A sessions about lawn care and gardening methods. The Green exhibits will offer a variety of practical and useful methods to use energy in a more efficient way at home, school and work.  Hybrid cars, trucks, buses and Westchester’s “Veggie Van” will be on display at the Alternative Fuel Vehicles exhibit.

The first 50 families to attend will receive a free “Earth Machine” composting bin and the first 500 families will get a free reusable shopping bag for grocery store visits. There will be a Sustainability awards ceremony for towns and business with outstanding recycling records.  There will also be a free raffle for prizes like an energy audit for your home, 30-day unlimited-ride MetroCards, and “green” prizes.
