CCB School of Westchester, an academic enrichment school for students in first through 12th grades, will begin offering summer prep courses this year for first through fifth and sixth through eighth grades that are aligned with the Common Core.

First through fifth grade students will work on math, reading, writing, critical reading, and critical writing skills to prepare for the ELA and New York State Math exams. Sixth through eighth grade students will work on math, grammar, vocabulary, critical reading, and critical thinking to prepare for the SSAT (Secondary School Achievement Test) and the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). All students are given practice exams each Friday.

“We teach content and the kids practice,” says Roger Freda, lead teacher of the English faculty. “But what makes us unique is we give feedback which gets the kids to grow and show growth and gain confidence in themselves. We’re really concerned with developmental growth in subject areas.”

CCB School of Westchester offers a summer program for SAT, SAT II, ACT, and PSA exam prep for students in ninth through 12th grades. The academic enrichment school also offers two different after-school sessions (4:30-6pm and 6-7:30pm) and full-day Saturday sessions for all grades.

The summer program has two schedules: Students can enroll for seven weeks—July 7-Aug. 22—in full-day (9am-3pm) or half-day (9am-12pm) sessions, or for four weeks of full-day sessions.
