Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery Now Offering Fishing Birthday Parties

The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery is a former New York State trout hatchery turned non-profit educational center dedicated to educating the community about freshwater ecosystems. You can tour the two aquarium buildings, visit the eight outdoor ponds, feed the trout, and now guests can have fishing birthday parties.

At fishing birthday parties, partygoers ages 4 and older can fish for 45 minutes, catch and release only. The parties occur year-round, rain or shine, and two experienced staff members will guide kids as well as provide fishing poles and bait. Parties can only be scheduled from 3:30pm-5pm and cannot be scheduled on the weekends from June through August.  Following the fishing trip, the facility will provide pizza, soda, and goodie bags for each guest.

Instead of fishing, kids can feed trout and get up close and personal with fish, reptiles, and amphibians with a Live Animal Encounter birthday party. Children will learn about the critters that call the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery home. For a more personal experience, guests can even rent out the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium for a private party after 5pm on summer weekends.

Other programs offered by the Fish Hatchery include Elementary level educational programs such as Fins and Jaws and Habitats and Life Cycles, secondary level programs such as Pond Life and Freshwater Equality, and summer camps.
