"Flowers to Fruits" - New York Botanical Garden

Nature exploration activities teach kids about pollinators that help flowers become fruits. Make a Nature Field Notebook and discover the diversity of flowers and pollinators inhabiting the Everett Children's Adventure Garden. Create a pollinator puppet, pot a plant, and visit the pond to spot frogs, turtles, and other wetland wildlife. Through September 2.

'Farm to Table' - New York Botanical Garden

Introduce youngsters to the source of favorite foods through play in the Everett Children's Adventure Garden. They'll play farmer and see real plants under a "windmill," and a "barn," complete with hay, then pretend to harvest fruits and vegetables, using them to "cook" yummy recipes at the nearby "cafe." Through September 5.

Cruise Nights - Bear Mountain State Park

The Rod Benders Car Club of New York once again hosts this popular, summer evening activity at Bear Mountain State Park. Families can check out hot rods and other vintage cars. There are also raffles, vendors, food, music and prizes. The season ends with the club's annual charity evening on September 14.

The Rockland County Department of Health invites nursing moms (and babies) and pregnant women to a weekly Mother 2 Mother (M2M) Breastfeeding Support Group. The group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month, starting April 27, and is led by Health Department Certified Lactation Counselors. Brook Trout Exhibit - Hudson Highlands Nature Museum's Wildlife Education Center
Through December 31, 2011 - Cornwall

The Center's current exhibit features brook trout, New York State's official freshwater fish. "Brookies" require cold, clean, well- oxygenated water to survive. Highly sensitive fish, brook trout are sometimes referred to as an "indicator" species because their disappearance from our waters can alert us to changes in the environment and local water systems.
