Children in East Woods School’s kindergarten program learned about penguins and created their own out of construction paper.

East Woods School, a private pre-nursery through eighth grade school, is offering a new preschool program for 2-year-old children. The new class will be offered 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week, and days can be added as the year progresses.

The new preschool class begins each day with a free-play session in the classroom. A healthy snack is provided before students are taken to either a music or physical education class. The day continues with activities that focus on the lesson of the day. For instance, September is dedicated to the color red, and each day students’ lessons will focus on red items and studying various shapes related to these objects. At the end of the day, students can do an art project, and then they have more free-play time before heading home.

“Our mission is to foster strength of character and academic excellence while developing and encouraging creativity, intellectual curiosity, and a lifelong passion for learning,” says Amanda Laserson, director of admissions, marketing, and communications at East Woods School. “We are a nurturing community that celebrates the differences among us and leads by example through citizenship and service to others.”

Enrollment for the preschool program is now open.
