Throughout the year, Emelin Theatre offers a variety of music, dance, theater, comedy, and family shows. It aims to bring quality performances, similar to what one would see in New York City, to Westchester County residents. Emelin Theatre is bringing its Dance Off The Grid series back for a second year with new contemporary dance performances and dancers such as Jared Grimes, Séan Curran, Decadancetheatre, and the New York Theatre Ballet.

The Dance Off The Grid series will combine tap, hip-hop, and other contemporary styles of dance. Each show includes four choreographers and their companies, as well as a question-and-answer session with the audience, says Francesca Carter, the theater’s media director.

Carter says it is thrilling because parents don’t have to go into New York City for a program similar to Dance Off The Grid.

The series takes place one Friday night a month from February through May. Each show starts at 8pm and costs $25 per person. Upcoming shows are Feb. 27, featuring Bridgman|Packer Dance, Séan Curran, Heidi Latsky Dance, and Malini Srinivasan; and March 29, featuring Aszure Barton, Emery LeCrone, Doug Varone and Dancers, and Prashant Shah.

“It could be a standing date night, or you could just enjoy one performance,” Carter says. “It is a way for busy parents to see this pedigree of performance.”
