ISTEIN, an education enrichment center in Forest Hills, now offers music and Chinese classes. The programs for children in pre-k through high school are offered to teach kids about teamwork, culture, and new ways to communicate.

The music program is offered for children ages 4 through high school. Students can learn to play instruments, including piano, viola, cello, and flute, as well as take voice lessons, music theory, and composition classes. Group classes are also offered, forming an orchestra and allowing kids to have fun together while learning about teamwork from each other.

“Our music teachers are all professional classical performers,” says owner Richard Liu. “They have very strong educational backgrounds and most of them have graduated from top music schools with plenty of teaching experience.”

ISTEIN began offering the Chinese classes for children who come from American or mixed families, or from a Chinese family whose first language is English. The classes aim to give students the communication skills they will need in order to successfully communicate with native Chinese speakers. What sets ISTEIN apart from other language classes is they also focus on the Chinese culture, teaching students through reading, writing, singing, dance, and Chinese traditions.
