Sci-Tech Workshop: Festival of LED Lights - SONY Wonder Technology Lab

Brighten up your holiday! Learn how to wire, connect and power-up an arrangement of LED lights and illuminate your own unique Chanukah Menorah or Christmas tree "portrait" to take home. Reservations of up to four children can be made phone, Monday-Friday beginning two weeks prior to the event. For kids 8 and older.

Superhero Yoga! - Karma Kids Yoga

Join some of your favorite superheroes for an action-packed yoga class! Little crime fighters will undergo important superhero training to strengthen their bodies and explore their personal super powers through fun yoga games and activities—they'll even learn to fly! Scandinavian Sing-Along - Scandinavia House

Scandinavia holds a treasure-trove of children?s songs and games. Danish musician Vibe Normann will introduce children to English versions of these songs, play musical games, and perform a selection of songs in modern, jazzy arrangements. Be prepared to move, dance, imagine, and sing your heart out! Vibe Normann is a Danish musician living in New York with a background in classical and Danish folk music. She has a special love for the Danish children?s songs that she grew up with, and has performed all over the eastern United States. November 16, December 14, 2013, and January 25, 2014. Kollektion: Looking & Painting Art Workshops with Pratt Institute Art Educators - Scandinavia House

Join art educators from Pratt Institute for this season of Saturday afternoon art workshops inspired by Scandinavia House?s new exhibition Danish Paintings from the Golden Age to the Modern Breakthrough: Selections from the Collection of Ambassador John L. Loeb Jr. Participants will discuss the variety of paintings on view in the exhibition?sunny scenes from Skagen beach, quiet views of Copenhagen apartments, thoughtful portraits and self-portraits, and colorful still lives. After exploring the exhibition and learning to differentiate between the many styles of painting, children will create their own series of studies and paintings using a variety of media including watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and collage. The series runs Saturday, Oct. 12-Nov. 23. Enrollment is limited; early registration is strongly encouraged. About the Art and Design Education Department at Pratt Institute The mission of undergraduate Art and Design Education is the preparation of students of art and design as accomplished teachers of a diverse population of learners in urban schools, museums, early childhood, and community programs. Throughout the curriculum, practice is directly connected to, and supported by, pedagogical theory with an emphasis on reflection and the development of critical thinking skills. Kids explore the properties of mass, force and motion as they use cardboard, tubes and other household materials to create an exciting ball run. This drop-in workshop is recommended for children ages 18 months and older. Register on the day of the event at the NYSCI admissions area. Sometimes creativity can get messy, so dress your little maker (and yourself) in old clothing that can be splattered with things like paint, ink and oobleck.
