This multi-sport turf-time drop-off camp for kids ages 3-10, offers "turf-time" during school vacation weeks. For example, Election Day (11/6), Veteran's Day (11/12) and Thanksgiving (11/23). Turf-time is a multi-sport class where the field is divided into sections and children are grouped by age. Athletes can choose from playing baseball, dodge ball, soccer, basketball, obstacle course, or any other sports that they choose to play.

Autism Friendly Classes - Taste Buds Kitchen

Taste Buds Kitchen partners with Autism Friendly Spaces, LLC (AFS) to offer children on the autism spectrum, ages 4-8, an opportunity to cook up a new and delicious culinary adventure each week in the signature weekly class, especially adapted to meet the needs of children with ASD. Recipes will vary from savory to sweet as kids focus on ingredients, tastes, techniques, and making new friends. Class size is limited to 7 students which allows the budding chefs to participate in an unique kitchen environment where they learn, laugh, and cook together. Taste Buds Kitchen staff has been trained by AFS on creating autism friendly lessons and a downloadable social narrative will be available on this page shortly. This is a drop-off class. This class meets every Wednesday from 4:30-5:30 for 8 sessions (Sept. 26 to Nov. 14). Class maximum is 7 children. Each week a visual schedule to help children sequence and follow instructions will be provided, along with two instructors (a Taste Buds Kitchen cooking instructor and an AFS Autism Specialist) in a similar teaching model to a CTT classroom, with an AFS consultant on hand at the first class.

Forever Families Through Adoption: Art-Themed Socialization Group for Adoptees - St. Paul's Lutheran Church

A free art-themed socialization group for school-age adoptees meeting two times a month through December 5. The group will focus on the expression of emotions through art, and creating an open forum for discussion about the participants' feelings about adoption. Adoption will be the common thread that holds the group together and will be addressed as it is brought up by the participants.

Discovering Iceland through Art and Story with Pratt Institute Art Educators - Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America

Hovering just below the Arctic Circle, Iceland is a small island with enormous volcanoes, icy glacial rivers, and ancient lava fields. Passed on orally from generation to generation, the sagas are the stories of the early settlement of Iceland by Scandinavians searching for farmland in AD 900. These tales were later collected and written down by unknown authors in the 13th and 14th centuries and are ranked with the world's finest literature. Join art educators from Pratt Institute in a unique series of Saturday afternoon workshops inspired by the landscape and medieval tales of Iceland. Children will "visit" Iceland through stories, watercolors, and photographs from the Saga-Sites exhibition and make a visual record of their journey in drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Danish musician Vibe Normann will introduce children to English versions of these songs, play musical games, and perform a selection of songs in modern, jazzy arrangements. Come prepared to move, dance, imagine, and sing your heart out. Vibe Normann is a Danish musician living in New York with a background in classical and Danish folk music. She has a special love for the Danish children's songs that she grew up with, and has performed all over the eastern United States. Normann will be accompanied by pianist Sean Wayland.
