From the Victorian Historian: “This cartoon is from an 1826 publication of Hone’s Table Book, a collection of satire popular with both American and British readers. The artist drew this cartoon based on an actual prank he had seen take place between a man and group of children. A caption which accompanied this cartoon repeats what the artist had heard during the prank: “Sir, there’s something out of your pocket.” “Where?” “There!” “What?” “Your hand, sir—Ah! You April fool!”” Hands on History is a FREE family program series held each first and third Saturday of the month at King Manor from 1-4pm.
