An Evening Carousel Ride to End Alzheimer’s
The Forest Park Carousel, Woodhaven

For many of us, carousels evoke positive childhood memories. The whirling lights, flashing colors, piping organ music, and galloping horses remind us of a simpler time. Families can create new memories during An Evening Carousel Ride to End Alzheimer’s, which raises money for the programs and services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association NYC Chapter.
Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival
Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Flushing

A multicultural celebration and sporting event including music, dance, ethnic foods, martial arts demonstrations, and more, the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival is the largest multicultural festival in the state and the largest festival of its kind in the U.S. The festival continues the age-old tradition of dragon boat racing in colorful, custom-made teak boats, which are virtual works of art gliding on water. With more than 170 well-trained teams, including more than 2,000 participants from across the U.S. and Canada, this year’s festival is expected to be notable in its scale and fierce competition. Mario the Magician

The former governor isn’t the only Mario to make magic in Queens. Inspired by Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and vaudeville-style theatre, Mario the Magician presents a one-of-a-kind, inventive, and lively performance. His talent, ingenuity, and flawless showmanship fuel this performance that is at once ridiculously silly and meticulously crafted. FREE!
Concert on the Green: Amish Outlaws

Three out of the six members of the Amish Outlaws were born and raised with a strict Amish upbringing. No electricity from land lines, no alcohol, no musical instruments…you get the idea. But their spirits were too wild for the Amish lifestyle. At Concert on the Green: Amish Outlaws, you can expect to see six men in full Amish garb releasing all of their pent-up energy with an infectious joy. The Outlaws constantly surprise the audience and keep them guessing as to what they could possibly play next. FREE!
Dirty Sock Fun Time Band

At Young Discoverers: Watching Weather, kids ages 8-12 will get hands-on experience studying the weather and creating their own weather instruments from household materials.
Music Classes ABC Do-Re-ME

Tuesdays in August
At ABC Do-Re-ME, kids and parents can dance, play instruments, and sing along to everything from nursery rhymes to The Beatles. These entertaining and educational classes are the perfect way to introduce young kids to music in a fun and interactive way. Classes include: Boogey Baby for babies including newborns, and Musical Playdate or Musical Stories for toddlers and preschoolers up to 6 years.
