The NYMetroParents blogroll features the best blogs in the parenting world, from New York and beyond. Here's a closer look at why we love these mom bloggers and dad bloggers and how they're shaping the web for parenting today.

Blogging From: Manhattan

Laura Cipullo knew from the start that her kids would have issues with food simply because she is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator, and certified eating disorder registered dietitian. She specializes in eating disorder prevention and recovery, weight management, family health, and diabetes and provides nutrition advice to adults and children.

She is also the president of the New York chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, she chairs the Food and Nutrition Committee for Corlears School, a nursery through fifth grade independent school in NYC, and she mentors other registered dietitians. With two very picky eaters of her own at home (five-year-old Bobby and three-year-old Billy), Cipullo is well aware of how difficult it can be to get children to value a balanced diet with fulfilling, nutritious foods, and that’s precisely why she started her blog, Mom Dishes It Out.

Cipullo’s blog covers a wide range of categories including eating habits, feeding your kids, moderation, nutrition, health and wellness, and weight. Cipullo also makes sure to post a wealth of amazing recipes, proving that it is possible to make food that is both delicious and healthy. If you’re looking for even more nutrition tips, check out Cipullo’s second blog, Eating and Living Moderately.

Cipullo recently wrote a post for our very own NYMetroParents blog entitled “What an NYC Mom & Registered Dietician Feeds Her Kids.” The post gives an honest account of her difficulty in feeding her sons and how she handles it.

Unsurprisingly, we aren’t the only ones who think Cipullo’s advice is particularly noteworthy. She has been quoted in a number of different national publications, including Fitness, Real Simple Magazine, OK! Magazine, Today’s Dietitian, Diabetes Forecast, Diabetic Living, Modern Mom, and The Huffington Post. She also makes guest appearances on television shows including CBS’ The Couch, Fox & Friends, The Willis Report, The Dr. Steve Show, and Headline News.

In addition, Cipullo has created Healthy Habits, a teaching tool in her “Mommy Manual Series” which promotes an encouraging approach to all foods, and she is currently working on her second book in the series.

You can’t go wrong by reading the fabulous advice and trying your hand at the fantastic recipes that this dietitian mom dishes out! – Melanie Shapiro
