This week, the TROVE Summer Film Festival presents "The Lorax," an adaptation of Dr. Seuss' classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the girl of his dreams. He must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. Rated PG (brief mild language), 86 mins.

Tale Waggers Training @ The Field Library - Field Library
Through July 31, 2013 - Peekskill

Kids in 2nd grade and up who love to tell stories will train to join the library's storytelling group and perform in public. Training consists of three sessions, and will meet July 9, 16, and 23. Children will memorize story details, act out parts, and use different voices and gestures. Games and videotaping, with twists, turns, and lots of humor. Sign-up is required.

Summer Storywalk: 'The World is Waiting for You' - White Plains Public Library
Through August 30, 2013 - White Plains

Kids will want to dig in and discover that the world is waiting for them to explore as they follow the Summer StoryWalk based on the book entitled "The World is Waiting for You" by Barbara Kerley. Published by National Geographic, this book includes amazing photographs of incredible places. Open to families with children in grades 1-6 beginning Monday, July 1 and continuing through Friday, August 30 (closed July 4). Storywalk instructions are available at the Children's Information Desk (The Compass) in The Trove. Participants must sign in there before proceeding on the walk. Children in grades 1-3 must be accompanied by an adult on the walk. Children in grades 4-6 may follow the walk without an adult.

Summer Reading Game at The Field Library: 'Dig Into Reading!' - Field Library
Through August 31, 2013 - Peekskill

Sign up for The Field's fabulous summer reading games - for kids ages 4 and up. Sign-up begins June 27, and games end August 17. Participants will report on books to teenage volunteers, and move their game pieces along the library's "Dig Into Reading" game boards, getting prizes along the way. Kids who read enough books get an invitation to the library's Pizza Party. Check fieldkids.wordpress.com for details.
