New Children’s Language Studio Opens in Mamaroneck

Lingua-Genius, a new language studio in Mamaroneck, teaches children foreign languages. Children can choose from six different languages and lessons are customized to the children for a learn-at-your-own-pace environment. Younger students participate in hands-on recreational classes, and older students participate in a more formal class with bookwork and culture immersion. Children eventually learn to read, write, and speak the targeted foreign language.

Owner Stacy Paulino first opened the studio four years ago under a different name in Bridgeport, CT, which catered to the needs of adults looking to learn Spanish for their own businesses. Today, her programs are offered to children ages 6 months to 14 years old, and parents and children can choose from Mandarin, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and German.

The curriculum is divided into five age groups, ensuring a learn-at-your-own-pace environment. “The most important thing is to customize our lessons according to age. For the very young kids, classes are individualized, and children work at their own pace,” Paulino says.

Programs range from hands-on recreational classes for younger children to more formal programs for older children where students learn to read, write, and ultimately speak in the targeted foreign language.

“We endeavor for full immersion in the language,” Paulino says, referring to students learning about the language’s culture as well.

The new Lingua-Genius studio features a large classroom and private tutoring rooms.
