New Online Retailer Sells Handmade Children’s Clothing

Magnolia Lake Clothing is a new online children’s clothing company that hand sews clothes out of vintage fabrics. The clothing company offers regular sizes up to size 8, as well as custom sizing.

Alisha Welsh started making clothes for her daughter, now 2 years old, out of vintage fabrics, but soon she was selling her handmade creations on Etsy and debuting new styles on her Facebook page.

In June 2015, Welsh began taking orders for her brand, Magnolia Lake Clothing, on her website. Her styles fit ages newborn to 6 years, or up to a size 8. Every item is handmade in the U.S., most by Welsh herself, and takes approximately one to three weeks to ship out. She also offers custom sizing.

“Everything is custom made,” Welsh says. “On the website you can send me your measurements, from shoulder to knee.”

Welsh says she has a lot of requests for custom-sized clothing, especially from mothers with premature babies.

Many of Welsh’s clothing items are limited edition due to the scarcity of the vintage fabric. For example, she was only able to make 10 of one of the dresses from her summer line of because that was the amount of material she had.

In addition, Welsh has a line called Grandma’s Attic, which is clothing made out of vintage embroidered material. She will even take embroidered fabric you send her and make a custom dress out of it.

The brand is not just for girls, either. Welsh makes bow ties for boys that match any dress, as well as dog scarves. Proceeds from the sale of the dog scarves are donated to local animal shelters.

Welsh is sold out of her summer line, but has started loading her fall items onto her website.
