1.1 Million NYC Students to Get Free Microsoft Office

Thanks to a new partnership between New York City Public Schools and Microsoft, all of NYC’s 1.1 million students will be receiving free copies of Microsoft Office Software – Office 365 Education for Students including Office 365 ProPlus! Kids will have access to Word, Excel, and additional Microsoft Office Suite programs free of charge for a package which is worth $99.00/year. For families who can’t afford this product, this partnership is surely a blessing.

While many kids have access to Microsoft during the hours they are in school, this will allow them to continue using the programs at home, for their homework and studies. The package can be used on up to five personal computers (PCs and Macs), five tablet devices, and five phones (iOS or Android), so the entire family can reap the benefits. Melissa Mark-Viverito, City Council Speaker, wants to be sure children have the resources to learn and succeed. With Microsoft now available in so many children’s homes, this is a grand step in that direction.

While this type of partnership isn’t new in the U.S., it is a first for NYC. In order to get the download for Office 365 Education for Students, families can go to https://studentoffice.net/ and enter the requested information. We’d love to see this partnership continue across America and beyond.
