Music Together Returns to Howard Beach After Hurricane Sandy

With the post-Sandy renovations to Saint Barnabas church completed, Music Together is returning to its Howard Beach location. Music Together offers Mommy, Music, and Me, a parent or caregiver and child music class that teaches the fundamentals of music in a group setting.

Music Together, an early childhood music education company celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, recently returned to its Howard Beach location in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. With the basic philosophy that music learning supports all learning, the company encourages parents to take advantage of precious time with their babies.

Mommy, Music, and Me invites all moms, dads, grandparents, and guardians to bond with their child and explore the world through music in a developmentally appropriate setting. “The reason that the music has this great effect is because of the experience that you have with the child in the class,” says center director Wendy DeAngelis.

Baby classes are geared toward new parents to help them use music to calm and sooth their baby. The classes offer a set of music tools to fill feeding, bathing, and even diaper changing time with songs from different cultures in various meters, tonalities, and languages. The family modeled program offers free entry for babies younger than 8 months with a registered sibling.

Mommy, Music, and Me is celebrating its 10th year in Howard Beach and the re-opening of its location in the completely renovated St. Barnabas church with three summer concerts.
