Interview With Kyle Richards on Raising Teens and the Pressures of Social Media

When it comes to raising teens, it seems as if the job is harder than ever these days. Social media plays a huge role in teens’ lives and that’s not always a good thing. From cyberbullying to pressures to look a certain way, being a teenager in the age of oversharing can be a real challenge.

I recently sat down with Kyle Richards, star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and mom to four girls. Richards is an expert when it comes to raising teens and not to mention an absolute pro at handling social media trolls and bullies, she says “confidence is key.”

Richards has partnered with Clearasil to promote the brand’s #BelowtheSurface campaign. The campaign stresses the idea that parents should not only support their children when it comes to good skin care habits, but also encourage them to go deeper into the issues that are bothering them, whether that’s peer pressure, cyberbullying, or low self-esteem.

Richards also has some great tips for discussing uncomfortable topics with your kids (hint: the car is involved!).
