'Fiddler on the Roof' - Westchester Broadway Theatre

Composer Jerry Bock and lyricist Sheldon Harnick teamed up with librettist Joseph Stein to create this timeless classic musical, magically woven with universal themes, music, dance, poignancy, and laughter. "Fiddler on the Roof" is based on "Tevye and His Daughters" and other tales by Sholem Aleichem that he wrote in Yiddish and published in 1894. Set in 1905, the musical takes place in Anatevka, a small Jewish village in Russia. The story revolves around the dairyman, Tevye, and his attempts to preserve his family's traditions in the face of a changing world. In this production, Tevye the dairyman is brought to life by Bill Nolte. His wife Golde will be played by Emily Zacharias. The daughters are Rachel Prather (Tzeitel), Sarah Rolleston (Hodel), Dana Glaus (Chava), and local children Gianna Florio and Julia Gold, who will alternate as Bielke, and Samantha Robins and Shannon Stout who will alternate as Shprintze. Terry Palasz is the meddling Matchmaker, Yente. The girls' suitors are Andrew Boza as Motel the tailor, Eric Johnson as the butcher, Lazar Wolfe, Joe Longthorne as the student revolutionary, Perchik, and Chris Giordano as Fyedka, the Russian Cossack. The cast also features Michael J. Farina as Mordcha the Innkeeper, Drew Martin as the Rabbi, Benjamin Dean as Mendel, Stephen Tewksbury as the constable, Lucas Thompson as Nachum, and Stephen Valenti as Avram. The production is directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford. Jesse Factor is the associate choreographer. The musical director is Leo P. Carusone, set design is by John Farrell, technical director is Steve Loftus, lighting design by Andrew Gmoser, sound design by Jonathan Hatton, costume design by Michael Bottari and Ronald Case, production stage manager is Victor Lukas and the assistant stage Mmnager is Ron Rogell. Properties are by Grumpy's Props. As with all our productions, Lisa Tiso is the associate producer.

Merkin Concert Hall's Broadway Playhouse series introduces kids to the masterpieces of American musical theater through mini-musicals, medleys, sing-alongs, and games in which children participate. Lyricist Johnny Mercer (1909-1976) worked with some of America's greatest composers in Hollywood and on Broadway, including Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern, Duke Ellington, and Henry Mancini. He wrote songs such as "Hooray for Hollywood" and "Moon River" as well as the Broadway shows St. Louis Woman and Li'l Abner. The show includes a mini-production of Li'l Abner, the musical based on the comic strip by Al Capp. For ages 4-11.

Bubble is an original indie pop band from NYC. They were founded in 1994 by songwriter Dave Foster and drummer/producer Tom DeVito. In 2005, Bubble performed the Beatles Revolver for Classic Album Night at Arlene's Grocery. It was so much fun Bubble decided to perform Beatles music for adults and their children. Bubble Do Beatles was born. The band's leader/songwriter Dave Foster was raised on a steady diet of the Fab Four and Bubble's CDs show that influence. Part of the Bring Your Own Kid series.

Lunar New Year Festival 2013 - Queens Theatre

Celebrate the New Year at this two-day event by doing hands-on arts and crafts activities such as paper cutting, dough figurines, and calligraphy in the lobby, followed by a 70-minutes mainstage performance. The performances include traditional Chinese sword, ribbon, folk dance, and Peking Opera featuring the living Peking Opera legend, Qi Shu-fang; as well the modern Chinese rock band, Hsu-nami, known for its daring integration of the rock sound with the Chinese classical music instrument: Erhu. Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, monster trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

Sesame Street Live: 'Elmo's Super Heroes' - The Theater at Madison Square Garden

All is not well on Sesame Street, but Elmo's determined to help his friends find happiness. The show opens with Super Grover losing his superness, so Elmo brings the gang to town, teaching the audience lessons of healthy habits through song and dance with his friends including Abby Cadabby, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, and more of the gang.

'In the Heights' - Westchester Broadway Theatre
Through March 17, 2013 - Elmsford

The 2008 Tony Award winning musical weaves a tale about three days in the life of Washington Heights, a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan. It's a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. The unique and exhilarating score is a dazzling array of hip-hop, salsa, pop, soul, reggae, cha-cha, and mambo, including, "When You're Home," "It Won't Be Long Now," and "In The Heights." Show runs through March 17, 2013. Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday matinees including lunch; Thursday, Friday Saturday, and Sunday Evenings including dinner.

'The Prince and the Magic Flute' - Puppetworks

Puppets present the melodramatic tale of a Prince who asks the Queen of the Night to remove the lock on the bird catcher's mouth. (You have to be there...)

Jake Talks - Rockland World Radio
Through May 20, 2013 - Nyack

The JCC is seeking local teens for its weekly internet radio show, Jake Talks. Students will cover news and "hot topics" while having fun and learning the ins and outs of radio broadcasting. The show airs live each Monday at 5pm. Hear the show at rocklandworldradio.com. Listeners can call in to share their views by dialing 845-353-2910. Jazz for Kids - Jazz Standard
Through May 26, 2013 - Gramercy

The Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra (JSYO), which includes about 25 talented musicians between the ages of 11 and 18, burns through jazz classics while listeners enjoys Blue Smoke's brunch menu (lunch menu, kids menu, and full bar are also available). Jazz Standard donates $1 from each kid's menu item sold to Spoons Across America.
