American Roots Music Festival - Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts
June 29, 2013 - Katonah

Explore the richness and variety of American music - folk, blues, bluegrass, country, traditional, old time, and string band. Performances occur all day throughout the grounds. There will be ample room for picnics and relaxing, a shade tent, and activities for children. FULL FESTIVAL TICKET includes access to everything daytime and evening, general lawn seating in Friends Field and the Sunken Garden, and reserved seating in the Venetian Theater. Bring a blanket or beach chairs and enjoy all the daytime performances from 12-6pm, children's activities, the Social Music Hour, and picnicking! After dinner, move into the majestic Venetian Theater and enjoy The Del McCoury Band from 7:30-10pm. DAY ONLY TICKET includes access to daytime only, from 12-6pm. General lawn seating in Friends Field and the Sunken Garden. Bring a blanket or beach chairs and enjoy all the daytime performances, children's activities, the Social Music Hour, and picnicking. Daytime performances include David Wax Museum; John McCutcheon; Heritage Blues Quartet; The Stray Birds; Doug & Telisha; Spuyten Duyvil; Walkabout Clearwater Chorus.

Every Thursday from 6-8pm, Magician Philip Klipper will astound and delight the whole family with his incredible sleight of hand during dinner. June 6, 13, 20, and 27.

2013 Summer Concert Series - Blues Traveler - Empire City Casino
July 01, 2013 - Yonkers

Concert stage is located outside on the apron, next to the racetrack. Doors open at 6pm. Tickets on sale May 23 at 9am. The Sunday summer nights runs for 14 weeks, ending Sept. 15. After its inaugural season in 2012, the Summer Concert Series was expanded for 2013, and additional seating capacity was added. Fireworks Festival - Cross County Shopping Center

Celebrate Independence Day in style with an all-day FREE festival of music, fireworks, and lots of SummerFest fun! Bring beach chairs and blankets to enjoy the family-friendly show, then stay for the fireworks display. CONCERT SCHEDULE: The Nerds, 1-3pm: The Nerds not only perform great Top 40 covers but they entertain the crowd with a mix of soul, classic rock, and TV-theme show songs. Parrot Beach, 4-6pm It's 5 o'clock somewhere! Get the island feel from this Jimmy Buffet tribute band. NYC Swing Band, 7-10pm Bring on the soul, R&B, and funk, and be prepared to dance the night away! Fireworks begin at 9:30pm The fireworks can be seen from anywhere at Cross County Shopping Center, but the best viewing area is on The Green in the center of the mall and in the north parking lot. Rain date for fireworks only is Wednesday, July 10, at 9:30pm.

The A Train to Harlem - Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and the Harlem Jazz Craze. Performed by Janis Siegel, vocalist; Darius de Haas, vocalist; Jamie Bernstein, narrator; Westchester Jazz Orchestra; Michael Barrett, conductor. Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn were joined at the musical hip, producing great tunes for the Duke Ellington big band at the Cotton Club. Ellington expert Darius de Haas and Manhattan Transfer's Janis Siegel sing and scat their way through the Ellington Songbook. Jamie Bernstein fills in the historical background with little-known stories about Harlem's golden age of jazz. Fireworks display follows the concert.

Dinosaur Safari - Bronx Zoo
Through September 08, 2013 - Bronx

The new attraction will include a ride through the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods with more than two-dozen animatronic dinosaurs up to 40 feet long which move, snarl, roar, and spit. In anticipation of the new exhibit, the Bronx Zoo is offering New Yorkers a chance to vote for their favorite dinosaur species at bronxzoo.com/dino and win tickets to see the dinosaurs. Included in the vote: long-necked Brachiosaurus, the intimidating Tyrannosaurus rex, the gator-like Baryonyx, the massive Triceratops, or the flighted Quetzalcoatlus. Exclusive Bronx Zoo Dinosaur Safari stickers that can be used with a safari field guide will be given to those who vote. Dinosaur Safari will include a ride through a two-acre area of the zoo, and will highlight the physical or behavioral adaptations many share with species that are alive today. This limited engagement will run from Saturday, May 25 through Sunday, September 8, and will be included in the Total Experience Ticket. 'Tornado Alley' - Maritime Aquarium

This film invites the audience to follow along with a daring team of "storm chasers" as they work to understand the origins and evolution of tornadoes. Sean Casey, star of the Discovery Channel's "Storm Chasers" reality series, leads this mission to document one of Earth's most awe-inspiring events - the birth of a tornado.
