As the night progresses and baby monsters get dropped off, Molly and Al receive news that the storm of the century is heading their way. Gustafer Yellowgold with Strings Attached - NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts
September 15, 2012 - Greenwich Village

Gustafer Yellowgold, the brainchild of songwriter-performer-illustrator Morgan Taylor, is an international phenomenon, beloved by kids and parents alike. He comes to NYU's Skirball Center in this multi-media performance featuring Taylor and a full band, animated illustrations and storytelling. Gustafer Yellowgold is a friendly creature who came to Earth from the sun and is living out an explorer's life in a slightly psychedelic version of the Minnesota woods. In addition to headlining prestigious arts institutions, children's museums, theaters, and clubs, the live show has been the wild-card opening act for Wilco and The Polyphonic Spree. Gustafer is perhaps best known from a string of best-selling, critically acclaimed DVD/CD sets, including Gustafer Yellowgold's Year In The Day (2012). The adult-friendliness of Gustafer Yellowgold is due in part to Taylor's long and varied musical career, in which he has shared bills with Bob Dylan, The Breeders, Natalie Merchant, Matthew Sweet and Guided By Voices, among many others.

Disney Theatrical Productions Presents 'Newsies The Musical' on Broadway - Nederlander Theatre
Through December 31, 2012 - Manhattan

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, this movie-turned-musical is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what's right. "Newsies" is inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst, and other powerful newspaper publishers. The stage version introduces several brand-new songs by the original team while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film, including "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," "King of New York," and "Santa Fe."
