Steve & Kate’s Camp Adds Three New Locations Across the City

After a successful first year in the Nord Anglia International School in Manhattan’s East Village, Steve & Kate’s Camp, a San Francisco import, is slated to open three additional locations in New York City this summer.

Partnered with the Upper East Side’s Trevor Day School, Kips Bay’s United Nations International School, and Brooklyn’s Williamsburg Northside School, Steve & Kate’s Camp “likes to work with schools that resonate with us philosophically,” says Elea Crockett, Steve & Kate’s camp director in Williamsburg.

And that philosophy is “all about self-directed learning.” Kids choose their own activities and experience from a litany of programming. The core studios – music, style, breadmaking, film, dance, and coding –are consistent across all Steve & Kate locations. Kids can spend their summers participating in activities that they are individually drawn to or inspired by, be it voice recording, clothing and jewelry design, animation, choreography, or robotics. “We find that when kids are making their own choices they do so with an inherent drive from within them,” says Crockett. “The point is to get them to be autonomous, and doing things that they are passionate about.”

The camp has been in existence for over 35 years in the Bay Area, and in the past four years has spread out across the country. Open to all children in grades pre-K-7, registration for 2016 is open and rolling. Camp begins June 20 in Williamsburg, Kips Bay, and the Upper East Side, and June 27 in the East Village. Steve & Kate’s camp offers extreme flexibility.

You can buy a whole summer membership or you can purchase as many day passes as you want and use them whenever. Didn’t use them? No sweat. They’ll give you a full refund for unused passes. And best of all, you don’t even have to tell them when you’re coming. Ta-da. Camp just got easier.
