Film School Launches Summer Camp for Kids

Take Two Film Academy, a film school for kids and teens with interest in video and media literacy, is running a summer camp in Suffolk at The Southampton Center for Cultural Arts the last two weeks of July.

The academy also offers week-long summer camps at The Mandell School on the Upper West Side and Downtown at Leman Prep in Manhattan.

Summer camps are geared toward kids in grades 4-10 and there are also Saturday workshops for kids grades 3-8 in the spring.  Take Two also offers in-house residencies at public, private, and charter schools. There is no prior knowledge of filmmaking required, only a love for and interest in the art of film.

Students learn every aspect of filmmaking including screenwriting, directing, acting, shooting, and editing. Projects have included producing documentaries and campaigns for change to learn about the importance of raising community awareness on issues through film.

Megan Kiefer, founder of Take Two, has a B.A. from Tufts University along with an M.B.A. from Babson College. She is passionate about and experienced in teaching young people about storytelling and using film to create impact.
