Private School in Dobbs Ferry Introduces Summer Program

The Masters of Summer program, through The Masters School, will provide enrichment classes and recreational activities for students entering fifth through 12th grades.

For three weeks this summer, from June 12-30, the Masters of Summer program will provide students with arts, STEM, athletic, and academic programs.

This summer is the first season that The Masters School, located in Dobbs Ferry, will offer a full complement of programs falling under a broad umbrella of categories. Arts programs being offered include dance, graphic novel, chorale music, and creative Shakespeare courses. Athletic programs include tennis, dance, and swimming. Students can also take engineering and science programs from robotics to 3-D printing and chemistry. Other academic programs include college prep courses.

Most classes will be taught by The Masters School teachers or, in rare cases, a thoroughly vetted instructor. “It is very important that the programs are taught by our teachers,” says John Chiodo, director of Masters of Summer. “If we are going to manage the quality of the program, we need it to be run by people we know and trust.”

Students in the Masters of Summer program will have the ability to customize their weekly schedule with morning and afternoon courses and activities. There will also be opportunities to go on New York City excursions, from exploration of NYC art to lessons in entrepreneurship.

The Masters School will also be offering a leadership program led by the Leadership Institute, during which students will engage in activities to help them develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the impact they have on their community.
