Ellen Weininger, Educational Outreach Coordinator for Grassroots Environmental Education, discusses the impacts of hydrofracking and gives an update on the issue at the local, state, and national levels. Erin Heaton Meyer of Catskill Citizens for Safe Energy and the Sierra Club's Lower Hudson Group is a resident of Chenango County, one of the five counties under consideration for fracking by Governor Cuomo. Erin presents how the Governor's choice to enable or prohibit fracking affects New Yorkers throughout the state. Program presented in partnership with the Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group; designed for adults and high school students.

Kids learn to build or create a useful product. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft and receive a free Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin, and certificate of achievement. Workshops are offered the first Saturday of each month from 9am-12pm for children ages 5-12.

Black History StoryWalk: 'Molly, By Golly! The Legend of Molly Williams? - White Plains Public Library
Through March 17, 2013 - White Plains

Along this StoryWalk, kids in grades 1-6 and their families will learn about Molly Williams, an African American cook for NYC's Fire Company 11 in 1818, who is thought to be America's first female firefighter. The StoryWalk is based on the book entitled, ?Molly, by Golly! The Legend of Molly Williams, America's First Female Firefighter," written by Dianne Ochiltree and illustrated by Kathleen Kemly. The StoryWalk opens Sunday, February 17 at 1pm, and continues through Sunday, March 17.

VITAL SIGNS Art Exhibition - Pelham Art Center
