Top Tweets of the Week (July 23, 2012)

Hello and happy Monday! Yes, today is Monday, unlike last week when I made you wait until Wednesday to devour our Top Tweets of the Week. But you probably don’t even remember that, so let’s just gloss right over it. Onto more important things: can you believe that crazy NYC storm that happened last Wednesday?! I know, it’s super boring to talk about the weather, but you should know me well enough by now to know that “insane crazy hail rain storm” is not exactly just “weather” to me. It was terrifying! This round-up reflects some of my favorite storm reactions, but don’t worry, I’ve also included a hilarious YouTube video, some inspirational tweets, and an ice-cream recipe round-up. Yum!

Let’s start with the storm. OMG. Aztec apocalypse is right! I’m constantly convincing myself that crazy weather is a clear sign of the End Of The World, so I don’t find this suggestion crazy at all.

As I was saying: apocalypse. Yes/yes?

Totally normal to be freaked! I was so freaked! Everyone else in the office made fun of me but it was so scary!

But does that make the storm any less terrifying?! I think not! (Was it fake though? Now I’m curious…I’m so gullible.)

Okay moving away from the terror of the weather and toward the hilarity and fun of planning a Bar/Bat Mitzvah — I guarantee this video will make you giggle, no matter how stressful you find the party planning process!

This blog post is beautiful. I have no other words. Please read it. Those as emotional as I am — keep a box of Kleenex nearby.

Jealous! I only see food trucks on my runs. #NYCproblems

Sigh. Is it sad that this is a genuine wish/pipe-dream of mine? Let me know if you succeed!

I never met an ice cream flavor I didn’t like. So in honor of National Ice Cream month, let’s embrace the mystical dessert!

It makes me feel much better that a famous author get just as tired as I do when we both, you know, don’t sleep.

I love camping! This post has me itching to pitch a tent in my office. I wonder if the other editors would mind…

It seems like all my favorite stores are rolling out “fall fashions,” but we do have 6 weeks of summer left! Thank you Vera for acknowledging that, and thank you for the delightful fashionable suggestions. And that’s all, folks; see ya next week. Hopefully we don’t experience the apocalypse, Aztec or otherwise, before then. Enjoy the last full week of July 2012! Join us on Mondays for more Top Tweets.
